Editorial team reviewing economic reports at a desk

__BRAND__ is an independent information site for economists, students, researchers and policy analysts who follow the Irish economy. We read primary sources — Central Statistics Office releases, Central Bank of Ireland bulletins, Irish Fiscal Advisory Council reports, Eurostat datasets and OECD economic surveys — and write about them in plain English, with the sources linked so readers can check the original.

We do not manage money, sell courses or take paid placements. The site is read-only: there is no membership wall and no newsletter upsell. Our income, if any, comes from display advertising that is clearly labelled as advertising, and we do not allow advertisers to influence editorial content.

What we cover

Our scope is the Irish economy and the policy debates around it: fiscal policy and the budget, corporation tax and the multinational base, housing supply and affordability, the labour market, trade and foreign direct investment, and the monetary policy backdrop set by the European Central Bank. We also publish resource pages — annotated lists of datasets, institutions and working-paper series — because finding the right source is half the work in applied economics.

Editorial principles

  1. Primary sources first. Every quantitative claim links to the release, dataset or report it comes from. If a figure is our own calculation, we show the method.
  2. Uncertainty is part of the story. We report ranges, revisions and methodological breaks. A single point estimate without context is usually misleading.
  3. We name disagreement. Economists disagree about inflation targeting, the output gap, housing demand elasticities and the appropriate measure of Irish GDP. We report the competing arguments, not a false consensus.
  4. No investment advice. Nothing on this site is a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any asset. We write about the economy, not about portfolios.
  5. No invented credentials. We do not claim affiliations we do not have. Our author bylines are real, and corrections are dated and visible.
  6. Accessibility is not optional. The site works without JavaScript, has a single clear heading hierarchy, and meets WCAG 2.1 AA contrast.

Corrections

If we get a figure, attribution or link wrong we correct it, date the correction and keep the original wording visible where practical. To report an error, email __EMAIL__ with the page URL and the specific problem. We aim to acknowledge correction requests within two working days.
